Our Lady's Christmas Hampers once again bring Festive Cheer

Report by Ms Price Head of RE
Ten years ago the School Community began what has become their annual collection of food items for a hamper project to help vulnerable people at Christmas. This year once again brought success with 197 hampers, 32 Tea Time parcels, two extra large boxes of toilet rolls and female products for a women's shelter, 5 extra large boxes of foodstuff for a local male homeless shelter and 10 tins of homemade (in school!) biscuits - all successfully dispatched and delivered by the Sixth Form.
It is a collective effort where the whole school community plays a part in the collection of food and nominating individuals known locally who would benefit from receiving a hamper.
This year special thanks must be given to all those members of Year 10, 11 and the Sixth Form who for two weeks gave up all their free time to help the RE Team wrap, pack and stack the hampers.
Also special thanks to Ms Stanton for the biscuit making with her team of students in the HSC department who baked shortbread and gingerbread biscuits for the Care Homes our Sixth Form work with in their Servite Community Service placements. We would also like to thank Morrisons for allowing us to have a donations collection point in their store and both Sainsbury’s and Adsa for their generous donations. Finally thanks to Mr Duran (OLC Core RE Community Service Outreach) for extending our connections to our local community and taking Our Lady's beyond the school walls.
