OFSTED places us in top 10% of the country

OFSTED carried out their short inspection, and found that pupils’ progress overall places the school in the top 10% of the country. The impressive OFSTED report highlights pupils’ excellent progress at GCSE, with disadvantaged pupils’ progress exceeding that of their peers nationally.

Strong progress is underpinned by effective teaching across the curriculum. Teachers’ secure subject knowledge supports and builds upon pupils’ prior learning well.

The report also states that attendance is a particular strength of the school, which reflects the pupils’ desire to come to school and learn. Bullying is rare at the school and dealt with effectively if it happens.

Ms Justine McDonald, Headteacher of OLCHS said, ‘We are delighted with the report and proudly hold onto our ‘Good’ rating. We know this is an amazing school that provides incredible value and progress for our students, but it is lovely to hear that Ofsted agree with us.’

Leaders are highly ambitious for their pupils, with staff successfully coordinating effort and support to pupils who are at risk of underperforming.
