The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) dates back to 1871, and its mission is to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community, supporting technology innovation to meet the needs of society.

The IET produces a wide range of engineering-themed resources and activity days for STEM teachers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). They allow teachers to give practical and real-life context to their lessons both in the form of award-winning STEM resources  and Faraday Challenge Days.
The IET is running  Faraday Challenges Days in partnership with the Jack Petchey Foundation. This opportunity enables IET to reach out to a wide variety of schools in London and the surrounding area who are successfully operating the Foundation’s Achievement Award.

The Faraday Challenge Days will be based around the BBC micro:bit devices and have been designed to give students an exciting and engaging introduction to coding, helping them to realise their early potential and, ultimately, put a new generation back in control of technology, as part of the BBC’s wider Make it Digital initiative.
