School Open: closures cancelled
School Open as normal Tuesday and Wednesday this week
Dear Parent(s)/Carer(s),
NO Strike Action – SCHOOL OPEN AS NORMAL
I am writing to inform you that we have successfully negotiated with the regional representatives of the NUT and the strike action planned for this week has now been cancelled.
School will be open as normal at 8.40am and there will be no school closures due to strike action
I apologise for the late notice but discussions held today have allowed the NUT to withdraw their strike action planned for this week. I realise that the late notice is disruptive but we are delighted that we have been able to bring this matter to a successful close at this time.
The school will be open and run as normal for the remainder of this week
Whenever strike action takes place in a school it has an incredibly disruptive impact on the education of your children. However, the NUT and many other organisations, such as the parent campaign body Fair Funding For All (http://www.fairfundingforallschools.org/) are campaigning to fight the cuts to school funding that have the potential to destroy the high quality education service you and your children have the right to expect.
Whilst I am pleased that with the strike action cancelled we can continue with the good work we do every day in service of your daughter’s education, I would urge you to continue to campaign against further cuts to school funding and demand greater investment in education for our children. Upcoming campaigns regarding this matter include a demonstration by the Fair Funding For All Schools, Sunday 16th July at 12noon at Whitehall Gardens SW1, then to rally at Parliament Square at 1.30pm.
Our website provides some useful information regarding this matter under ‘our school’ and ‘funding’ http://www.ourladys.hackney.sch.uk/page/?title=Funding&pid=105
Yours sincerely,
Ms Justine McDonald
