Year 7 trip to the National Archives
Report written by Ms Rose
7J were given the opportunity to visit the National Archives on Thursday 22nd February, which stores the most important documents in the UK from the last 1000 years. The oldest document they have is the Doomsday Book, which is a collection of information about people living in England in 1066. As well as studying this source, students were given the chance to see other original documents from Medieval England, such as the only known map of a medieval town ever drawn! Students were able to explore exactly what can be learnt about life in Medieval England from the documents that still exist today, and why there are also things that historians still do not know about. A great day was had by all!
