Barcelona Technology Trip
Report by Nia Tackie Year 10J
From the 8 - 11th February 2018, a group, consisting of Year 10 and 11 students and Ms Sowden, Ms Pierre and Miss Sorrel travelled to Barcelona to look at the tourist sights and attractions for inspiration in the children’s Technology and Art classes. Once we arrived in Barcelona, we took a coach to our hotel La Roma Reial.
On the first day we went to a contemporary art museum called Museu D'art Contemporani de Barcelona and looked at the Poesia Brossa Exhibition. We sketched and took photographs of the different exhibits and then headed to the gift shop. Afterwards we went to a market and looked around before making our way to a restaurant El Tío Pío.
The second day was our trip to Park Güell where we marvelled at the colourful decor and designs. We then made our way to La Sagrada Familia and looked at the architecture and learnt about the church that is still under construction! We then went shopping in La Rambla and went to many souvenir shops. We ended with dinner at a pizza restaurant.
On the third day, we went to The Cathedral of Barcelona and then to the Temple D’August and looked around at the festival that was taking place.
All in all, the trip was fun and exciting because the students were given freedom; we chose who to stay with in the hotel, we went shopping in groups and were given times to meet up, we viewed the exhibits and famous buildings in small groups but overall, we were free to do our own thing at the hotel. The trip gave us an idea of what it was like having more freedom and we learnt how to balance time in order to meet up with the whole group and go and look at the attractions.
Lots of thanks to the teachers who organised and came with us on the trip.
