Migrants Mass 2016

On bank holiday May 2nd - the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker - we made our way as a group of year 13s to Westminister Cathedral for the annual Migrants Mass celebrated by Cardinal Vincent Nichols.

The mass was very lively as it included a Banner Procession with representatives from London’s diverse Catholic community as well as music from countries such as Brazil, Vietnam and Ghana.

During the bidding prayers, our group presented the Bidding prayers in languages representing the diversity of Catholics in London including; Portuguese (read by Tifany), Yoruba (read by Susan) Igbo (read by Ginika), Spanish (read by Claire), French (read by Sephora), Twi (read by Betty), Italian (read by Taiwo) and Mandarin Chinese (read by myself).

It was a fantastic experience as many people after the mass congratulated us on our wonderful language skills as well as confidence to pray in front of a Cathedral full of people!

A big thank you to Sr. Dominic Savio who accompanied us on this lovely day and the RS department together with our Language Department for preparing us for the special mass.
