Uniform expectations

Students are expected to take pride in their uniform and appearance, creating a positive first impression of the school. Students are expected to take responsibility for their own appearance whilst maintaining the highest standards of conduct and behaviour at all times. All students are expected to wear the full uniform whilst travelling to and from school.

The following list is a reminder of common areas requiring particular attention:

Ankle socks 

White only

Long socks

Below the knee black or white

Tights

Plain navy or black. Only one pair of socks to be worn. Tights and socks may not be worn together. No leg warmers.

Shoes

Should be plain black and flat heeled. They must not have coloured or patterned stitching and/or highly coloured laces, glitter, diamantes or other decorative elements. No canvas, no material, no boots, no ankle boots (including kickers), no sling back, no peep toes

T-shirt

Only a white short-sleeved T-shirt may be worn, for extra warmth, under the school shirt

Skirts

Must be knee-length

Outdoor Coat

Plain black/dark blue, and large enough for blazer to be worn underneath

Blazers

Must be worn to, from and in school.  Except during exceptional hot weather (at the discretion of Headteacher)

Bags

Must be large enough to fit A4 books/ files and sufficiently robust to prevent the contents from being damaged.  They must be rucksacks or satchel like bags. No other type of bag is allowed.  Black/blue colours are recommended. 

Hair

Hair should be neat and tidy. Hairstyles should be simple and not over-ornate. If a hairband is worn, it should be black and no more than 5cm wide.   Hair should be your own natural colour.  Hair bobbles and clips should be black, simple and not overly ornate.

Make up

Not permitted

Earrings 

One small stud only in each ear lobe no bigger than 6mm

Jewellery

Only the following jewellery is acceptable for school wear: A plain wristwatch

The following items are therefore not acceptable and will be confiscated under school procedures: - Nose or facial studs of any description, earrings other than studs, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.

School Blazer  This is worn throughout the school day and to and from school, except when the Headteacher makes an exception in exceptionally hot weather.

School Uniform Skirt: knee length, or

School Unform Trousers

School blouse: which is blue and white.  In very cold weather a plain white short sleeved T-shirt can be worn under the blouse.

School cardigan or V-necked pullover (optional).

Socks or Tights

  • Plain navy blue or black tights

  • Below the knee black or white socks

  • White ankle socks

Only one pair of socks to be worn. Tights and socks may not be worn together. No leg warmers.

 

Shoes

Plain black, and flat-heeled shoes should be worn.  They may be in a slip on, bar or lace-up style.  They should be leather or leather ‘look’ in material. See images below.

The following are NOT acceptable: Kicker boots, ankle boots, sling-backs, high-heels, peep-toes, heavy industrial-type or knee-high boots, trainers, material and canvas shoes, coloured or patterned stitching, glitter, diamantes, metal buckles, decorative bows, highly coloured laces, etc.

 

Headscarf: For those students who wish to wear a headscarf to maintain their modesty as part of their religious observance, we will have available to wear a black scarf with our school logo embroidered.  This will be available via the school at the price of £6.50 using parentpay.  The headscarf must only be worn as shown here and is available for purchase via parentpay and the school office. 

School bags: Bags must be large enough to carry an A4 folder without bending the corners – approx. 40cm by 30cm Bags must be robust and sensible (small handbags, shoulder bags and belt bags are not acceptable and must not be brought into school).

 

P.E. Kit

  • PE short sleeved t-shirt with school logo OR rugby-shirt with logo

  • Navy blue shorts/school skort (skirt with shorts sewn in) or navy jogging bottoms

  • Navy blue socks (ankle or football)

  • Trainers (not canvas)

Optional

  • School Rugby style shirt 

  • School Sports Hoodie 

Hairstyles and Ornaments

  • Hair should be neat and tidy

  • Hair should be your own natural colour

  • Shaved hairstyles are not acceptable

  • Hair bobbles and clips should be black, simple and not over-ornate

  • Hair ornaments should not be worn at all

  • Hair bands should be plain black and less than 6cm wide

  • A plain wrist watch

  • Single stud – one in the lobe of each ear no larger than 6mm diameter

The following items are therefore not acceptable and will be confiscated under school procedures:

  • Nose or facial studs of any description, earrings other than studs, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.

 

 

Make-up, nail polish and false nails are not permitted.

 

Dress Code for Sixth Form Students

Perception is very important; we wish to ensure that our day to day working environment is exactly that, a working environment.  Therefore, we must dress accordingly.

As well as providing you with a more adult image; the dress code strikes a balance that provides you with a degree of individuality whilst also recognising the importance of setting an example to the younger members of the school community, parents and visitors to the school.

Dress Code

  • Smart Black Skirt / Black Trousers

  • Smart Black / White Top - but no logos

  • Black footwear - must be plain pure black 

  • Clothing which is unacceptable might include any tracksuits or sports clothing, caps, hats, bandanas or similar items, hooded jackets, ripped or faded jeans or sweatshirts, denim jackets, trainers or converse, any clothing with labels showing or any excessive jewellery.
